You can grow your Instagram following with ads by promoting your best posts or your profile to people who match your niche, through Meta's own ad tools. The people who follow you are real users who saw your content and chose to. It's slower and more expensive per follower than buying a follower package, and nobody can honestly guarantee a number. This guide explains what it costs in 2026, how to estimate results without fooling yourself, and how to set it up.
Yes, although "followers" is not a button you press. Meta's ads are built to get people to do something, such as visit your profile, watch a video or tap a link, and some of the people who visit a profile they like will follow it. In practice you have two ways in:
Meta doesn't publish a price list: ads are sold in an auction, so the cost depends on who else wants the same audience at the same time. Independent benchmarks give a useful range:
Two patterns matter for planning: costs rise in the fourth quarter as retailers compete for attention, and audiences in high-income countries such as the US cost more to reach than many other markets.
A click isn't a follow. The number you actually care about is:
cost per new follower = cost per profile visit ÷ share of visitors who follow
Here's how we get to our working range, with every assumption stated:
| Input | Low-cost case | High-cost case | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost per profile visit | $0.20 | $1.30 | The high end matches the Superads peak average CPC (Nov 2025). The low end assumes cheaper markets and ads optimised for profile visits rather than link clicks. |
| Visitors who follow | ~40% | ~43% | Our assumption for a profile with a clear niche and several strong posts. A thin or unfocused profile converts much worse. |
| Cost per new follower | $0.50 | $3.00 | $0.20 ÷ 0.40 and $1.30 ÷ 0.43, rounded |
The biggest uncertainty is the follow rate, and it's the part you control: people decide in a few seconds on your profile, so your last nine posts and your bio do most of the work. If your profile isn't ready, fix that before spending anything on ads.
Divide your ad spend by $3.00 for a cautious estimate and by $0.50 for an optimistic one. These are the ranges we show for our own packages, where the ad budget is the part of the price that goes to Meta:
| Package | Price | Campaign | Ad budget to Meta | Estimated new followers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $49 | 7 days | $30 | 10–60 |
| Growth | $99 | 14 days | $65 | 20–130 |
| Pro | $199 | 30 days | $140 | 45–280 |
| Scale | $399 | 30 days | $295 | 100–590 |
Estimates only; results vary and are not guaranteed. Meta can also reject or limit ads under its own policies.
If you'd rather hand it over, you never need to share your login. Meta Business Suite lets you add a partner business with access only to the Page and Instagram account you choose, and you can remove that access at any time. Be wary of anyone who asks for your password, promises an exact number of followers, or won't tell you how much of your money goes to Meta as ad spend.
That's how Cedarfollow campaigns work: you add us as a partner, we set up the targeting and choose which posts to promote, the stated ad budget goes to Meta, and you get a report showing exactly what was spent and what it brought. If you'd rather keep full control, we can send you the targeting plan and you boost the posts yourself.
Follower packages are cheaper per follower, but Instagram's Community Guidelines ask people not to artificially collect followers, and Instagram has removed inauthentic follows in the past. Bought followers don't watch, share or buy. Ads cost more per follower, but you pay to reach real people, and the ones who follow chose to. We cover the drop side of this in why your follower count drops.
Using our working range of $0.50 to $3.00 per new follower, roughly $500 to $3,000 in ad spend. Strong content in a lower-cost location can come in below that; a competitive niche in the US during the holiday season can come in above it.
Yes. Advertising is Meta's own product, and promoting your profile or posts to reach new people is exactly what it's for. Your ads must follow Meta's Advertising Standards. Buying followers is different: Instagram's Community Guidelines ask people not to artificially collect followers.
No. Meta decides who sees your ads, and people decide whether to follow. Anyone promising an exact follower count from ads is guessing or not really running ads.
At least 7 days. Delivery is often uneven in the first days while Meta's system works out who responds, and a week also smooths out weekday and weekend differences.
To run ads through Meta's ad tools for your Instagram account, you'll usually connect it to a Facebook Page and use a professional (Business or Creator) Instagram account. Boosting straight from the Instagram app is the simplest way to start.
The $0.50–$3.00 per-follower range is our own estimate derived from these benchmarks and the follow-rate assumption above, not a figure published by Meta.
