Creator Rewards vs LIVE Gifts vs TikTok Shop: Which TikTok Payout Fits You?
TikTok pays through three very different doors: a view-based program (Creator Rewards), tips from viewers (LIVE gifts) and commission on products (TikTok Shop). They differ on who can enter, how predictable the money is and, for readers in the Czech Republic, whether the door exists at all. This page sorts them by content type and account size.
The verdict in one table
Match your content type to the method first, then check the threshold. Ranges are labelled with the source that reported them; treat them as reported figures, not promised earnings.
| Method | Best for | Entry threshold | How the money is made | Reported range | EU / CZ availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creator Rewards | Searchable, 1-minute-plus videos (tutorials, explainers, stories) | 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days; 18+; personal account | Paid per qualified view, monthly | $0.40-$1.00 per 1,000 views (Influencer Marketing Hub) | Not available in the Czech Republic: ttcalculator.net's 2026 country list covers the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Australia, and omits Czechia. |
| LIVE gifts | Personality-led streamers with a regular schedule | About 1,000 followers and 18+ (ttcalculator.net) | Viewers buy coins, send gifts, gifts become diamonds | About 30% of viewer spending (Influencer Marketing Hub); $5-$5.30 per 1,000 coins of gifts (ttcalculator.net) | ttcalculator.net says LIVE gifts are available in most countries once you reach 1,000 followers, and points creators in countries without Creator Rewards to LIVE. Czechia is not named either way. |
| TikTok Shop affiliate | Product reviews, demos, hauls | 1,000 followers for the Product Marketplace; 18+; ID check (US seller guide) | Commission on sales | 5-30% commission (Influencer Marketing Hub) | Shop runs in 10 European countries as of 15 June 2026; the Czech Republic is not among them. |
Thresholds above are for the US programs described on the sources' pages on 1 November 2026. Regional rules can differ.
For Czech readers the practical reading is: Creator Rewards is closed, Shop is not listed, and LIVE gifts is the open cash route once you reach 1,000 followers.
Creator Rewards: pays for watch-worthy length
TikTok's own program terms set the entry bar at 10,000 authentic followers and at least 100,000 video views in the preceding 30 days. You must be 18 or the age of majority where you live, and the account must be personal: business and organisational accounts are ineligible.
Earning needs videos that are at least one minute long. Rewards are based on total legitimate video views and other signals of popularity and engagement, and TikTok may exclude artificially inflated metrics. Payouts go out on the 15th of each month through PayPal (processed via Hyperwallet) once you reach $50.00, and the creator bears transfer fees.
Influencer Marketing Hub adds the qualification details for a "qualified view": it comes from the For You feed, lasts longer than 5 seconds, sits on a video of at least a minute, and comes from a real user. Its reported range is $0.40-$1.00 per 1,000 views, so a million qualified views lands at roughly $400-$1,000.
- Pros: paid per qualified view with a monthly schedule; no selling.
- Cons: high entry bar; one-minute minimum rewards a format that not every niche suits; per-view rates are low.
LIVE gifts: pays for presence
LIVE access is generally unlocked at 1,000 followers for adults, per ttcalculator.net. The mechanics: viewers buy coins, send gifts, the gifts convert to diamonds, and diamonds cash out. That page values a diamond at about $0.005, so 200 diamonds is roughly $1, and it puts creator earnings at roughly $5 to $5.30 per 1,000 coins of gifts. It lists minimum withdrawals from $1 for new creators to $10 for regular streamers, with processing of 5-15 business days.
The two sources are hard to compare: Influencer Marketing Hub says roughly 30% of viewer spending, while ttcalculator.net gives a dollar figure per 1,000 coins and no percentage. The share you keep depends on what viewers actually pay per coin, which varies by purchase, so the in-app earnings screen is the reliable check.
- Pros: joint-lowest follower threshold of the three (with Shop affiliate); withdrawals start from $1 for new creators; suits small, loyal audiences.
- Cons: time-heavy (you are paid for hours on camera); income swings with each stream; availability is region-dependent.
TikTok Shop: pays for selling
TikTok's US seller guide defines three creator types.
- Affiliate: works on their own, with no seller binding, and needs at least 1,000 followers to use the Product Marketplace.
- Marketing: bound to a seller through a partnership; no follower minimum.
- Official Shop: promotes only the bound shop's products; no follower minimum.
All must be 18+, and everyone except Official Shop creators passes identity verification.
Influencer Marketing Hub reports affiliate commissions of 5-30% on sales. Income here scales with the price of what you promote and your conversion rate, not your view count.
For Europe, Common Thread Co lists ten TikTok Shop markets as of 15 June 2026: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom. Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland joined that day. The Czech Republic is not on the list, so a CZ-based creator would need a presence in a listed market.
- Pros: low threshold; commission scales with the price of what you promote.
- Cons: requires products and a selling mindset; US eligibility terms are strict; limited European footprint.
How we score the three methods
The scores below are our own editorial judgement against three criteria, derived from the thresholds and payout terms listed above. They are not measured results. Each criterion is scored 1 (worst) to 5 (best).
- Entry ease (35%): how low the follower and view thresholds are.
- Predictability (30%): how steady the income is once you qualify. Per-view programs score higher than tips or conversion-dependent commissions.
- Effort per dollar (35%): how much recurring work each dollar needs. Evergreen videos beat live hours.
| Method | Entry ease (35%) | Predictability (30%) | Effort per $ (35%) | Weighted total (out of 5) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok Shop affiliate | 4 | 2 | 3 | 3.05 |
| Creator Rewards | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2.95 |
| LIVE gifts | 4 | 2 | 2 | 2.70 |
Arithmetic: Shop = 4x0.35 + 2x0.30 + 3x0.35 = 1.40 + 0.60 + 1.05 = 3.05. Creator Rewards = 0.70 + 1.20 + 1.05 = 2.95. LIVE = 1.40 + 0.60 + 0.70 = 2.70. The totals are close, which is the point: no method wins for everyone, so the cards below matter more than the ranking. Availability is kept out of the score because it is a yes/no filter, not a trade-off.
Who it's for
Under 1,000 followers
Creator Rewards, LIVE and affiliate Shop access are all closed; the only exception is a seller-bound Marketing or Official Shop role. Build the audience first; our TikTok posting plan for small brands covers a routine. Brand deals and UGC work do not need these thresholds: see best UGC platforms for beginners.
1,000-10,000 followers, talk-to-camera personality
LIVE gifts is the realistic cash method. Pick a fixed slot and treat the hours as paid work at a low, uneven rate.
1,000-10,000 followers, product-minded
Shop affiliate, if you live in a supported market. Review products you actually use, and keep videos specific.
10,000+ followers, educational or story content
Creator Rewards, plus the other two as add-ons. Plan videos of a minute or longer, since shorter ones do not earn.
Based in the Czech Republic
Creator Rewards is not listed for Czechia and Shop is not among the ten European markets, so LIVE gifts is the main platform route, alongside methods that do not depend on regional programs. Our comparison of TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts pay and the 15-method income ranking cover the alternatives.
A six-step way to choose
- Write down your follower count and your total views over the last 30 days.
- Check your country against the availability notes above and in your app's Creator Tools; availability decides everything else.
- If you have 10,000 followers and 100,000 monthly views, apply to Creator Rewards and plan videos of at least one minute.
- If you have 1,000 followers, choose between LIVE (time-based) and Shop (sales-based) by whether you prefer talking or demonstrating.
- Estimate monthly income with the reported ranges, then divide by the hours you will spend to get your effort per dollar.
- Re-check after 60 days and drop whichever method has the lowest dollars per hour.
Alternatives outside the three
Brand deals do not depend on platform thresholds. Influencer Marketing Hub reports sponsorships of $50-$50,000+ per campaign depending on follower tier, and subscriptions with a 50/50 split after app fees. For rate benchmarks by audience size, see our brand deal rates by follower tier.
